Swans are back again

Looks like same swans have returned again. River is still frozen and there are still lot of snow. There is anyway already two small areas free of ice and swans are there again. This place is only few meters from the place where swans have had a nest already many years.

iPiccy Online Editor - Shine on Tornio Bridge

I edited this Tornio old bridge photo using online editor called iPiccy. It has lot of different kind of effects and tools to edit photos.

Editing using iPiccy Online Editor: First I cropped the photo and used HDR effect. After that I added Shine effect, where is possible to set the center point, radius, intensity and also color of the rays. In this case I set the color to violet/purple.

End result after editing is quite interesting. What do you think?

Sunset in Frozen Torne River

Now Torne River is already totally frozen. This photo I took three weeks ago, when the middle part of the river was still open.

Today was beautiful sunny day and about temperature was about -5C here in Tornio. I was walking by the river, when I heard there are flying swans towards me.

It's again that time of the year, when river freezes. It means also ice swimming.

First Ice

This week has been already subzero temperature in the day time. I took this photo on monday, when Tornio Kaupunginlahti was already frozen.

Thickness of the ice was already more than 1cm. That's quite much in so short time. In winter it will be here usually 70-80cm depending the place.

Leaves have already fallen down from the trees in Torne riverside. This is one of my favorite place for walking in summer and fall here in Tornio. Beautiful and relaxing place.

This time of the year birds fly from North Europe to south. Also swans. I took this photo few days ago, when there was big flock of swans on the river.

Fishing in Kukkolankoski

Torne river is a border river between Finland and Sweden. It's also popular fishing river. It's well known especially of salmon, but also whitefish. Kukkolankoski rapids (in Swedish: Kukkolaforsen) is about 15km to north from Tornio and Haparanda and there people scooping up whitefish.

Kukkolankoski is also beautiful place to visit. Rapids area is 3500m long and it drops 13,5m. Watch this my video to see more:

Tip! You can buy also smoked whitefish from Kukkolankoski and it's so good.
